Janggi (장기) is the chess played in Korea.

Same board and same pieces as Chinese chess, but no river, and almost every piece moves differently: the Elephant roams the whole board, the Cannon must jump even to move, the Soldier steps sideways from the start, and the diagonals of the palace are open to everyone but the Horse and the Elephant.
