Pieces actions and properties

This description extends the rules of chu Shogi:

Vice General: moves like a Bishop, when capturing, he can jump over an arbitrarily large number of other pieces (except great general). The Vice General can also make upto 3 King steps.

Fire Demon: burns all enemies standing on any of the eight squares next to the one it stands on (as opposed to: moves through). It does this both actively, after it moved, and passively, when an opponent's move lands next to it.

Water Buffalo: promotes to Fire Demon.

Heavenly Tetrach: The Tetrarchs is a sliding piece that skips the first square in any direction, totally ignoring (and not affecting) what is on it. It can end maximally 3 squares away from its starting square sideway, but can slide arbtrarily far in all other 6 directions. Alternatively the Tetrarchs can annihilate any opponent next to it, without moving.

Chariot Soldier: promotes to Heavenly Tetrach.

Lion Hawk: Can : Jump directly to any square in the 5x5 area surrounding it or annihilate any opponent standing next to it and moving on to an empty square next to that or Stay in place without capturing anything.

Vertical Soldier: promotes to Chariot Soldier.

Horizontal Soldier: promotes to Water Buffalo.

Dog: promotes to multi general.

Multi general

Iron General : promotes to Vertical Soldier.

Free Eagle: moves as a Queen with the diagonal move of a lion

Jump directly to any square in the second square in any direction

The diagonal move allows to :

Great general: moves as a Queen, when capturing, he can jump over an arbitrarily large number of other pieces except over king/prince.

Rook General: moves as a Rook, when capturing, he can jump over an arbitrarily large number of other pieces except over higher-ranked jumpers or king/prince.

Bishop General: moves as a Bishop, when capturing, he can jump over an arbitrarily large number of other pieces except over higher-ranked jumpers or king/prince.

Promotion

A piece may promote when it enters the last five ranks, and when it moves inside or out of them while capturing. Promotion is optional, except for a piece that could not move any more. Each row shows the piece and what it becomes, with the 2D Classic glyph on the left and the 2D Mnemonic one next to it.
